New (Tamil: நியூ) is a 2004 Tamil fantasy comedy film directed, written and produced by S. J. Surya, who also features in the lead role. Simran, Kiran Rathod and Devayani play supporting roles, while A. R. Rahman composes the music. New is about an 8-year-old boy who is turned into a 28-year-old man by a scientist and is loosely inspired by the Hollywood film Big (1988). Suryah plays a child who enraged by his mother's nagging goes to a mad scientist (Manivannan) and has himself transformed into a 28-year old. In his new found adulthood, he starts an unwitting love affair with the daughter (Simran) of a toy store magnate (Nasser), and gets a job as a designer of children's toys
